Grape variety :
80% Merlot /15% Cabernet Franc / 5% Cabernet Sauvignon
Soil :
The thirty-year-old vineyard is located on sandy gravel soils on colorful sandy clay. They are worked in full, grassed every other row and treated with organic approved products.
Vinification & ageing :
Harvesting is done manually. And is sorted by a densiometric sorting table. Each plot is vinified separately in a concrete tank, the extraction is done either by punching down or by pumping over as needed. After malolactic fermentation, the wines are aged in barrels, 66.65% new, one big barrel 23.8%, 3% of a wine and 6.55% others containing Amphora and lightning for 14 to 16 months.
Tasting:
The nose, long and balanced, has a beautiful personality. It combines fruity aromas with finely woody notes and pleasant freshness.
The palate, fruity and well balanced, has a fleshy attack with grain, which gives shine to the wine. Everything ends on beautiful melted and persistent tannins. This wine, both fruity and gourmet, goes perfectly with a semi-cooked foie gras, a hot goat salad, a grilles prime rib
Commercialization :
Bottle of 75 cl and 37,5 cl and Magnum of 150cl
Tasting notes :
Decanter (Georgina Hindle) - Cuvée 2019 : 93/100
Smells lovely with appealing milk chocolate and red cherry aromas really nicely scented on the nose and palate, you get such a sense of flowers and fragrance and I love it.
Elegant and well worked fruit - cherries and blackcurrants, and behind the fragrance some spicy and bitter dark chocolate and liquorice giving a lovely push pull of flavours and textures.
Delicious.
James Suckling - Cuvée 2019 : 92/100
Medium-bodied red with plum, coffee and dark chocolate aromas and flavors.
Firm and polished tannins and a pretty finish.
Drink after 2024.
Decanter (Georgina Hindle) - Cuvée 2020 : 93/100
Lovely aromatic expression on the nose, alive and forthcoming.Deep, dark, rich and black fruited. Lovely weight in the mouth, rich tannins, fine but ever so slightly textured, like silky strands that have an edge ofcoffee, bitter dark chocolate and slate. It's strong, this is not a simple or light wine, but it's delivered so well. It's soft in its big approach with a really juice core. A stand out and one to look out for. still youthful, so give this a few years or a long carafe, but I like the detail and the nuance, and the overall style.
Confident and outrageously charming.
James Suckling - Cuvée 2020 : 91-92/100
This is firm, yet polished with a medium body and plenty of berry, black-olive and chocolate character. Some walnut, too.
Chewy finish.
Decanter (Georgina Hindle) - Cuvée 2021 : 88/100
Floral and lifted nose, pink scents in terms of flowers and fruits.
Smooth and supple, but gentle, this has cool blue fruits with a creamy texture, silky smooth but overall quite light weighted.
Everything in balance, well defined with easy-to-like layers of fruit and minerality.
Decanter (Georgina Hindle) - Cuvée 2022 : 92/100
Beautiful fresh and floral aromas, lively and expressive on the nose. supple and clean, straight and linear with lovely finesse in terms of aromatic expression and bite to the black bramble fruit.
Mineral and chalky with sticky dark liquorice and salty chocolate tannins given lift by cool blue fruit.
Clean with an appealing weight overall. harvest 12 - 30 september. Ageing 18 months; a mixture of 500L barrels (new, one wine, cement tank and amphora).
